Golden Anniversary

10th May    Golden Wedding Anniversary

Hi everybody, Friday 8th May was our 50th wedding anniversary. Nancy and I celebrated with family and a couple of close friends by taking them to lunch at a nice local venue followed by desserts, cake and drinks at our place.

Before I go on I must admit I’m in the poo with Nancy as I was supposed to take heaps of photos but got so swept up in things I completely forgot, so I’m hoping to cajole a few from other more diligent folks.

In the preceding couple of weeks I made a couple of almond meal plum tarts, a couple of French raspberry tarts and a couple of pavlova’s. Lisa made a Tiramisu, and a couple of orange based cakes that were gluten free for those that may have that problem, one of the cakes was similar to a large mud cake but so much nicer. Lisa also bought a special cake shaped as a 50 and our nephew Damien who is a chef made a huge cake for us that he decorated himself also, both were delectable. As someone rightfully said the food was to die for and we had it running out of our ears so to speak. Wine and champas flowed freely although no one overindulged particularly as several couples had to travel, so the menfolk did the right thing to be able to drive home. I think we had 26 out of 27 for lunch and a couple more joined us at home.
Lisa did us proud the place looked fabulous with 50th Anniversary regalia, decorations and flowers and everything set out so nicely so people could access everything comfortably it was very well organised typical Lisa and many thanks to her partner John who never stopped doing things in preparation.

Saturday, I was still alive but a little lethargic! Clean up, but that really didn’t take long and come Sunday we basically did it all again for Mother’s Day and John’s birthday. John baked a couple of large snapper on the BBQ, Lisa did roast veges, preceded by homemade pumpkin soup and homemade pea and ham soup – delicious, all followed by left over desserts from Friday. Bloated and overweight again.

Now we can get down to the real business of pre-packing and organising last minute things for our trip – less than two weeks away. We probably won’t have time to scratch ourselves between now and then.
